The green-winged macaw is one of the most enchanting birds to be found in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. From the dense forests of southern Mexico to the lush forests of Panama and further south, this colorful beauty is a feast for the eyes wherever it is found.

Characteristics of the Green-winged Macaw:

• Dazzling colours : The green-winged macaw is not given this name for nothing! Its wings are a brilliant green, while its chest and belly shine in intense red. Blue and yellow sparkle in its wings, and its face is surrounded by a striking white mask. A true work of art by nature!
• Size : At around 86cm in length (including the long, elegant tail) and with a wingspan that can easily exceed 1m, this bird is not only beautiful to look at, but also imposing in size.
• Longevity : In the wild, this majestic bird can live between 50 and 60 years, and with proper care, a Green-winged Macaw can live much longer. This makes her not only an impressive animal, but also a lifelong friend!
• Playful and social : Green-winged macaws are real social butterflies! In their natural habitat they live in large groups, but even in captivity they feel best when they have a little company. With their curious and playful nature, they are always up for an adventure. Like other macaws, they can be quite noisy, but they can also learn to talk—although they stay a little less in the foreground than some of their relatives.
• Nature's Feast : These birds have a gourmet's palate! They enjoy a varied diet of seeds, nuts, fruits and berries, and palm trees are also a big favorite. Their diet plays an important role in the ecosystem, as they help disperse seeds.
